Widex was founded in Denmark in 1956 by the Tøpholm and Westermann families whom still own and run the company today. They are one of the world’s leading manufacturers of hearing aids and they estimate that one in 10 hearing aids sold internationally is developed and produced by them. Widex are renowned for having their own unique audiological identity and processing strategies and are most famous for their ‘Senso’ series range of hearing aids – the world’s first fully digital in-the-ear hearing aid. In more recent years, Widex have been responsible for developing the world’s smallest ‘receiver-in-canal’ (RIC) hearing aid style called ‘Passion’, and introducing NanoCare protection, a wax guard system based on nanotechnology to help enhance the reliability, performance and lifecycle of hearing aids.
